Frequently asked questions.
What are your credentials as a coach?
I am a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), Certified Nutrition Coach (CNC) and Behavior Change Specialist (BCS). All these certifications were issued through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). I am also First Aid/CPR certified through the American Red Cross.
What do you mean by “unlimited text and email support”?
My fitness and nutrition clients can reach out to me anytime via text or email, as often as they wish. My typical response time is within two hours for texts and within 24 hours for email. The frequency of communication is determined by the client’s preference. Some clients like to communicate only via weekly check-ins, and other clients prefer more frequent communication.
After I sign up online, what are the next steps?
After you purchase a package, I will reach out to you via email within 24 hours to schedule a virtual call. The timing of your coaching (1 month, 3 months, etc.) will begin from the date of that initial call. You could purchase a package now and choose a later start date, if you wish.
Who is your typical client?
My clients have a variety of goals, but the most common reasons people work with me are to lose body fat and/or learn how to properly strength train. I’ve also coached clients through weight maintenance, muscle building, body recomposition, and gaining weight/bulking.
I am busy and don’t have a lot of time to spare. Is coaching right for me?
I find that clients get out of the coaching experience what they put into it. That is, you will have a fulfilling experience if you commit to the process and devote time for focusing on your goals. Hiring a coach isn’t a magic “fix”. I can give you the tools, but you have to put in the effort. For nutrition clients, this effort may involve carving out time for grocery shopping, preparing meals at home, learning how to read nutrition labels, and submitting your weekly check-ins. For fitness clients, this effort will involve completing your workouts on a consistent basis. If you are willing to put in this effort, let’s go! If you aren’t fully ready to commit now, then I’ll be here for you when you are!
I have a history of eating disorders and/or disordered eating. Are you the right nutrition coach for me?
If you have previously been diagnosed with an eating disorder, you would be best suited to work with a Registered Dietitian (RD) with more specialized training in eating disorders. If you have a history of disordered eating, or an unhealthy relationship with food that has never been clinically diagnosed, we can discuss on our initial call more about this and decide if we are a good fit for each other. I am happy to issue a full refund if we determine that I’m not the best coach for you. I want to ensure you’re in the very best hands for your unique needs.
Do you offer meal plans? Will you tell me what to eat?
No, I do not offer meal plans and will never tell you exactly what to eat. Food choice is very personal, and you know best what foods you will want to eat and what foods feel good for your body. I help you learn what your body needs in order for you to reach your goals. If you need to consume more protein in your diet, for example, we’ll discuss strategies for doing this. I find this approach helps clients learn how to fuel their bodies for LIFE and not just temporarily for our coaching time together.
What equipment do I need for the virtual fitness program?
On our initial call, we’ll discuss where you plan to workout, what equipment you have access to, and how much physical space you have for exercise. No equipment is required, but you will need a physical space in which to exercise. This space can be small — some clients workout in their basement, spare bedroom, or living room, while others go to an apartment gym or corporate gym. A few sets of dumbbells are suggested (ranging from 5-25 pounds for beginners), and resistance bands are nice to have, as well.
